For endoscopic fragmentation of biliary and urinary stones.

The AUTOLITH® Touch and Uro-Touch, BiPolar Electrohydraulic Systems are high out-put, computer controlled Lithotripsy devices that provide greater patient safety, increased stone treatment effectiveness and ease of operation.

  • Easy to understand and use. Minimal set-up required and lightweight transport. Can be hand carried from one location to the next. Wearing safety goggles is not required
  • Designed with complete consideration to today’s economical constraints and budgets
  • Long lasting and durable with infrequent servicing required
  • The computer controlled AUTOLITH® Touch, Uro-Touch and Legacy AUTOLITH® Systems provide a precise balance of pulse energy based on the size of the disposable probe that is used. This prevents power overload to the probe which increases patient safety and extends the life of the probe

The AUTOLITH® Touch, Uro-Touch and Legacy AUTOLITH® Systems monitor the effects of the disposable probe operation to estimate probe life.

HOW IT WORKS

BiPolar EHL is used in the endoscopic fragmentation of large and difficult biliary stones as well as stones located in the urinary system. EHL provides an additional treatment option that is an essential tool for therapeutic centers with expertise in endoscopic management of biliary and urinary disorders. Via an endoscope, the physician locates the stone(s) within the saline-filled endoscopic field. The physician then places the probe tip within 1-2 millimeters of the stone surface and fires the EHL pulses with a simple step on the foot-pedal. The pulses are “micro-shockwaves” that deliver tiny, powerful bursts of energy in the very small space just beyond the probe tip. This confined area of activity is referred to as the “Power Envelop” (see image below). The stone sits directly in the “power envelope” and is exposed to the isolated bursts of energy. The physician can gradually increase the number of pulses delivered per foot-pedal depression as well as the power level of the pulses to effectively break the stone into smaller pieces for complete removal.

EHL Process

SAFE BIPOLAR DESIGN

The electrical design of the Northgate EHL is similar to many proven bipolar electrosurgical instruments in use today. With EHL, the electrical energy generates microscopic cavitation bubbles immediately beyond the probe tip. The resulting shockwave energy is highly effective at fragmenting the hard surface of the stone. The stainless wrapped tip of the small 1.9Fr. was designed to prevent tip degradation, common to lasers, which helps reduce the gradual formation of lateral energies that could negatively impact surrounding adjacent structures such as the ureteral wall.

Northgate has multi-generation AUTOLITH® systems in place all over the globe for both biliary and urologic stone treatment applications. Over the past 10 years, Northgate has not received a single customer complaint related to patient injury or complications. (FDA Maude Reports)
